About DampCheck
Independent damp and mould surveys for homeowners who want clear answers and honest advice.
I’m Gary — an independent damp and mould surveyor with specialist training in building diagnostics. For more than 15 years I’ve worked directly with homeowners, visiting properties, listening to concerns, and helping people make confident decisions about their homes.
DampCheck brings that experience together with the technical expertise I’ve developed to offer a service that’s clear, honest, and genuinely personal.
A homeowner first approach
My work has always centred on supporting homeowners — carrying out detailed surveys, explaining findings in plain language, and helping people feel reassured and informed.
I work with homeowners across Surrey, Berkshire, North Hampshire and the who value continuity, accountability, and a single point of contact. When you book with DampCheck, it’s just me — from the first conversation to the final report — ensuring a calm, respectful, and transparent experience throughout.
All of my surveys are completely non‑invasive. I don’t drill into walls, lift flooring or cause any disruption. Everything is assessed using visual checks, moisture readings and thermal imaging, so your home is left exactly as I found it.
Professional Standards & Accreditations
Independent. Regulated. Scientifically Accurate.
I combine advanced diagnostic training with recognised industry memberships to ensure every survey is carried out with accuracy, transparency, and professional accountability.
I am a Technical Member of the RPSA (Residential Property Surveyors Association), supported by an ABBE Level 3 Award in Damp, Mould and Condensation — a government‑recognised qualification covering both traditional and modern buildings, with a strong focus on building pathology and healthy home standards.
I also hold a Federation of Damp Certified Surveyor (FODCS) licence and am a Full Member of the UK Thermography Association, having completed ScanTherm’s Applied Building Diagnostics training. This enables me to use thermal imaging to detect hidden moisture, thermal bridging, and insulation defects that traditional methods often miss.
To ensure measurement accuracy, I am Dewpoint Professional trained (City & Guilds Accredited) in Moisture Meter Essentials, with all readings taken in line with British Standards (BS 8201, 8203, 5325). My PCA Qualified Technician training covers damp, timber and health & safety, providing a strong practical grounding in how moisture affects different parts of a home.
